Book club!

This post is for everyone that shares the love for books with me. Books are an amazing thing, they can open your mind to a world of fantasies and wonderful stories to educate and entertain your brain. As well as a good source of entertainment books can also help you improve your skills in English and may even inspire you to write your own novel!

Here are a few of my favourite books that I have reads throughout 2015 and into the beginning of 2016, it was soooo difficult to choose my favourites!

1.   The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins - This is a Fiction book about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. The book is set in the furture and holds constant suspense. I couldn't put this book down throughout the time I was reading it. There is a live TV show called the hunger games where 12 boys and 12 girls are picked from districts to fight to the death. There is only one winner: kill or be killed. 'MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOUR'

2.   The memories of a teenage Amnesiac, Gabrielle Zevin - This book is a book on romance and can be quite sad at times. I read this book after reading Elsewhere as the author is the same. The main character in this book is called Naomi and she wakes up in a hospital bed having no idea how she got there or who she was. 'Above all, mine is a LOVE story. And like most LOVE stories, this one involves chance, gravity, a dash of head trauma. It began with a coin toss. The coin came up tails; I was heads.'

3.   Delirium, Lauren Oliver - This is the first book from a trilogy. It is quite a touching book involving romance and adventure. The book is about a girl name Lena who lives in a world who are curing people of love. 'There was a time when love was the most important thing in the world. People would go to the end of the earth to find it. They would tell lies for it. Even kill for it. Then, at last, they found the cure.' A must read book, including pandemonium and requiem, which are the other books from the trilogy. I have read this book multiple times and I still find it griping and hard to put down!

4.   Geek Girl, Holly Smale - This book is about a girl, Harriet, that wasn't very popular at school because she's a bit of a geek, but she's given the chance to go from geek to chic. I am currently reading this book (so no spoilers please!), so far I have really enjoyed this book.

5.   Girl online and Girl online on tour, Zoe Sugg - The author of these books is youtuber Zoella. I read both these books within 2 days of getting them. The main character is a girl called Penny who everyone can relate to because she is a normal teenage girl. She had a huge opportunity given to her but will she take it? Penny, like me, is a blogger and throughout the book there are her blog posts which sum up each event that happens throughout the book. I will defiantly be re-reading these books again soon!

6.   Girl, missing, sister, missing and missing, me, Sophie McKenzie - This trilogy of thrilling books is about a girl called Lauren who finds out something unimaginable. These books are honestly amazing and I have read them over and over. They consist of Clift hangers and are unlike any other books I have read lately. Check them out, they are definitely a number one favourite of mine!

7.   Elsewhere, Gabrielle Zevin - This book is about a girl called Liz who is killed in a hit-and-run accident and this book tells the story of her life after in elsewhere and her journey back. 'Sorry, but nothing of much importance ever happened to me... I'm just a girl who forgot to look both ways before she crossed the street.' The Sunday Telegraph said 'So convincing you find yourself wanting to read the book backwards when you've finished' and I fully support this comment!

Thank you very much for reading my VERY long blog post. If you have any recommendations for books please comment them! I would also love to hear your opinion on the books I have chosen!!!

Dealing with secondary school!

Moving from Primary school to a Secondary school can be very stressful and there are lots of different things you might feel scared about. Don't worry! All of these feelings are normal. Meeting new friends will be as hard as you make it and it is important to be yourself.

As well as worrying about who you are going to make friends with you also need to think about what you are going to be taking to school...
Here are a few of my suggestions to what you might want to pack in your school bag:
Chewing gum/mints (don't bring gum if it is banned in your school)
Hand sanitizer
Dry shampoo (for after P.E or if your having a bad hair day, don't worry it happens to everyone!)
A note pad
Extra Pens/Pencils
Makeup (concealer, in case your having a bad skin day, but just remember not everything is about looks)
A water bottle (empty is okay, most schools have water fountains to refill)
Snacks (For break)
Watch (Trust me on this one)

Tips I learnt from being at secondary school...
Bring revision cards to lesson and try to write notes you think are important, it'll save you a lot of time later on in higher years/grades.
Try to write all your working out in your books/folders and write down anything that you think you might struggle on.
Don't be afraid to ask the teacher for help, that's what they're there for.
Try to prevent holding on to the stairwell railings (you may find chewing gum, or even spit! YUCK!!!)
Be careful walking through the corridors and try not to fall over!

But most importantly have fun and enjoy your time at school!
I hope you have enjoyed my blog post!
